March Madness Bracket Contests 2011

Just like last year, the team here at Roxiticus Desperate Housewives has done all the research for you to make the most of your March Madness 2011 experience. Hint to our readers: the contests get better as you scroll down.

First, ESPN has posted their 2011 March Madness Tournament Challenge, and I'm afraid $10,000 is not nearly as interesting as a million bucks. You'd think with sponsors like State Farm and Sprint, ESPN could pony up the money to make it a little more interesting for us.

The CBS Sports Bracket Challenge is offering a chance to win four tickets to the 2012 Final Four.
The good news: this year, BracketContest.com is again offering to pay one million dollars for the perfect bracket. The bad news: two years ago, all I had to give up to register was my e-mail address, snail mail address, and phone number, and they kept my mailbox full of scantily clad women and swimsuit calendars all year long. Last year, prizes would only be paid to participants that have an active account at Jazz Sportsbook or ABC Islands. An active account is defined as having funds and having played at least $50 during four out of the past seven days. Last year I passed on giving up my bank account and stuck with the free stuff....this year, I can't tell if they're going to require more information from me before I can submit my million-dollar-bracket...will let you know. I'm sending the swimsuit calendars to my office this year to keep the boys guessing.

WRALSportsFan.com has a $1,000,000 Bracket Challenge. Getting 1 or 2 wrong gets you $10,000. Miss 3 games and you can still win $1,000.

So here's the best perfect bracket contest I've found: Yahoo is offering a shot at $1 million in the Yahoo Sports Tourney Pick 'Em 2011!! Each person/household/Yahoo ID can fill out five (5) different brackets for five shots at the million bucks.

Having found our readers all of the March Madness Perfect Bracket Challenges you need AND cheered the local Mendham Patriots 5th grade girls to a 15-14 buzzer beater victory over Chester. Roxiticus Desperate Housewives must rest. Stay tuned for more March Madness and if you're the one with the perfect bracket, please thank us with an appropriate share of your winnings.

Music Monday: March Madness and Roxy's 1000th Post

Even though Maddie is my March Madness baby, her older sister London in the 2001 photo on the left loves playing and watching basketball, too. This weekend, the girls had their last Mendham Patriots basketball clinic -- kids won the annual parents vs. kids game -- and now it's time to settle in on the couch for three weeks of March Madness NCAA basketball action starting this Thursday, March 18th. The NCAA tournament will also be welcome entertainment for my mom, who has moved to Bridgeway rehab to recover from her hip surgery for the next few weeks.

As noted in the title of this post, you're reading Roxy's 1000th post here at Roxiticus Desperate Housewives. We're celebrating our One Shining Moment by raising a glass of bubbly and offering you a shot a ONE MILLION DOLLARS. If you love basketball or would just love to fill your purse or pockets with a million bucks, here are Roxy's links to all the free NCAA Million Dollar Bracket contests. If you're the one with the perfect bracket, please thank us with an appropriate share of your winnings.

I also see that Mariuca is hosting a big EntreCard contest at her Wishing on a Falling Star blog... all you have to do to win up to 25,000 EntreCard credits is to guess the number of EC the Genie Princess has in her account.... I'm going with 138,025... or maybe 142,879... or even 148,012...wish me luck!

Back in the 1980s, when I attended Syracuse University, I was too focused on my studies to care much about the basketball team, even though I lived next door to the shiny new Carrier Dome. Since then, I have mellowed a lot, married Rex, and given birth to two basketball-loving little girls (that's six-week-old London in her Syracuse Orange bib in the photo above), and our family has come to celebrate the time of year known as March Madness.... the NCAA college basketball championships and tournament.

Now.... it has been seven long years since the Orangemen won the NCAA tournament in 2003, but as March Madness gets underway with the Orangemen ranked #1 in the country, I thought I'd share One Shining Moment with all of you.

The ball is tipped
and there you are
you're running for your life
you're a shooting star
And all the years
no one knows
just how hard you worked
but now it shows...
(in) ONE SHINING MOMENT, IT'S ALL ON THE LINE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, THERE FROZEN IN TIME

But time is short
and the road is long
in the blinking of an eye
ah that moment's gone
And when it's done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew...
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED DEEP INSIDE
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW YOU WERE ALIVE

Feel the beat of your heart
feel the wind in your face
it's more than a contest
it's more than a race...

And when it's done
win or lose
you always did your best
cuz inside you knew...
(that) ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU REACHED FOR THE SKY
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU KNEW
ONE SHINING MOMENT, YOU WERE WILLING TO TRY
ONE SHINING MOMENT....

March Madness Perfect Bracket Contests 2009

Just like last year, the team here at Roxiticus Desperate Housewives has done all the research for you to make the most of your March Madness 2009 experience. Hint to our readers: the contests get better as you scroll down.

First, ESPN has posted their 2009 March Madness Tournament Challenge, and I'm afraid $10,000 is not nearly as interesting as a million bucks. You'd think with sponsors like State Farm and Sprint, ESPN could pony up the money to make it a little more interesting for us.

The CBS Sports Bracket Challenge is also offering a chance to win $10,000.

WRAL.com has stepped up the prizes this year with a new sponsor, Carolina Ale House, and a $1,000,000 Bracket Challenge. It looks like you can fill in your bracket as the tournament goes along instead of the full bracket up front.

All Roads to the Final Four Lead to BracketContest.com:

This year, BracketContest.com is again offering to pay one million dollars for the perfect bracket. All I had to give up to register was my e-mail address, snail mail address, and phone number. One important rule: only one entry per person/household, so make it a good one. While there are several other sites that show up with this contest on Google, all of them appear to link to BracketContest.com.

What would be better than a million bucks? Last year, Yahoo offered a shot at $5 million in the Yahoo Sports Tourney Pick 'Em 2008!! This year, Yahoo! has cut back to $1 million, but they still let each person/household/Yahoo ID fill out five (5) different brackets for five shots at the million bucks.

Having found our readers all of the March Madness Perfect Bracket Challenges you need, Roxiticus Desperate Housewives must read London and Maddie their bedtime stories. If you're the one with the perfect bracket, please thank us with an appropriate share of your winnings.

Music Monday: March Madness Begins with One Shining Moment by Luther Vandross, Featuring the 2003 NCAA Champion Syracuse Orangemen

Since then, I have mellowed a lot, married Rex, and given birth to two basketball-loving little girls (that's six-week-old London on the left in her Syracuse Orange bib), and our family has come to celebrate the time of year known as March Madness.... the NCAA college basketball championships and tournament.

As I posted here on Saturday, if you love college basketball or you'd love to have a million bucks, stay tuned to Roxiticus Desperate Housewives, where we'll be providing the links to all the free NCAA Million Dollar Bracket contests.

It has been six long years since the Orangemen won the NCAA tournament in 2003, but as March Madness gets underway with Championship Week starting this Thursday, I thought I'd share One Shining Moment with all of you.

March Madness Is Coming!

When I first started blogging in earnest back in February 2008, one of the first things I shared with my loyal Roxiticus Desperate Housewives readers was my love of March Madness college basketball. It occasionally divides our household, when London and I root for my alma mater, the Syracuse Orangemen, and Maddie and Rex root for PostBoy's alma mater, the Villanova Wildcats. One year later, we're coming up on one of our family's favorite times of year... the end of winter, preparations for Maddie's 7th birthday, and bracketology time!

For those of you who are interested in winning a million bucks, stay tuned... I've just started researching the best web sites to win a million dollars for my perfect bracket in the NCAA Tournament. As of today -- Saturday, February 28th and the start of "Judgment Week," the last week of regular season college basketball games -- neither ESPN nor Sports Illustrated have posted any big money contests. A Google search on "March Madness million dollar bracket" points out the gambling sites that want access to your credit card or bank account in order to enter their "free" contests. A few years back, before they required the financial background info to enter their contests, I signed up, including my mailing address, and they've given me all the swimsuit calendars a girl could ever want.

I will hope that as championship week gets underway and the Madness begins, the large sports sites like ESPN and Sports Illustrated, as well as big players like AOL and Yahoo, will launch free contests. In the meantime, take note of the following important dates:
  • Thursday, March 5th through Sunday, March 15th: NCAA Championship Week
  • Sunday, March 15th at 6:00pm: Selection Sunday, when the 65 teams are announced
  • Tuesday, March 17th through Monday, April 6th: NCAA Tournament
Stay tuned and we'll keep you up to date on the million dollar opportunities, sports fans!

March Madness: First Day and 16 Games Over....2 Perfect Brackets

I wish I could take credit for the two perfect brackets...but they both belong to Rex.

  • Duke (2) squeezed by Belmont (15), 71-70.
  • Kansas State (11) upset USC (6), 80-67.
  • Washington State (4) whomped Winthrop (13), 71-40.
  • Texas A&M (9) kept us on the edge of our seats before finishing off Brigham Young (8), 67-62.
  • Notre Dame (5) had an easy time with George Mason (12), 68-50.
  • UCLA (1) humiliated Mississippi Valley State (16), 70-29.
  • Wisconsin (3) beat Cal State - Fullerton (14), 71-56.
  • West Virginia (7) beat Arizona (10), 75-65, breaking open a close game in the final 2 minutes.

How are all of our loyal Roxiticus Desperate Houswives readers doing with their brackets?

March Madness Perfect Bracket Contests 2008

The team here at Roxiticus Desperate Housewives has done all the research for you to make the most of your March Madness 2008 experience. Hint to our readers: the contests get better as you scroll down.

First, ESPN has posted their 2008 March Madness Tournament Challenge, and I'm afraid $10,000 is not nearly as interesting as a million bucks. You'd think with sponsors like State Farm and Sprint, ESPN could pony up the money to make it a little more interesting for us.

The CBS Sports Bracket Challenge is offering a chance to win a trip for four to the Final Four in 2009. In Detroit.

Sports Illustrated is running the SI Bracket Challenge through Facebook, with $15,000 in prizes.

The best contest I've found so far (during a search for the dates for the ACC Tournament) is courtesy of WRAL.com and the Carolina Ford Dealers of Raleigh, NC. They're offering $100,000 for someone who picks all the games correctly, and it looks like you fill in your bracket as the tournament goes along instead of the full bracket up front.

.

Winner of the most bizarre March Madness site goes to (you'll NEVER guess): John McCain, for his McCain Basketball Bracket web site ("compare your bracket with John McCain's bracket"). Roxiticus Desperate Housewives readers, I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP!! It seems to be a way that John McCain is trying to lure voters in to his official web site to provide good old-fashioned Republican propaganda and to give you the opportunity to donate to his campaign. I love it....but he is not offering $1,000,000 for the perfect bracket. Even if he's elected.

.

Won't somebody please offer up a chance for a $1,000,000 perfect bracket?

.

Updated just after midnight on 3/7/08:

Update 3/6/08: Hey, I found one!!! After quite a bit of Googling, I learned that BracketContest.com will pay one million dollars for the perfect bracket. All I had to give up to register was my e-mail address, snail mail address, and phone number. One important rule: only one entry per person/household, so make it a good one. While there are several other sites that show up with this contest on Google, all of them appear to link to BracketContest.com.

.

What's better than a million bucks? How about $5 million from Yahoo in the Yahoo Sports Tourney Pick 'Em 2008!! Yahoo even lets each person/household/Yahoo ID fill out five (5) different brackets for five shots at the $5 million.

Having found our readers all of the March Madness Perfect Bracket Challenges you need, Roxiticus Desperate Housewives must rest. If you're the one with the perfect bracket, please thank us with an appropriate share of your winnings.

March Madness is Coming!!

Bracketology time.

.

I've got to start researching the best web sites to win a million dollars for my perfect bracket. As of tonight, pre-tournament-week, neither ESPN nor Sports Illustrated have posted any big money contests. A Google search on "March madness million dollar bracket" points out the gambling sites that want access to your credit card or bank account in order to enter their "free" contests. A few years back, before they required the financial background info to enter the contest, I signed up, including my mailing address, and they've given me all the swimsuit calendars a girl could ever want.

.

A casino online site I found called Pro360 has reviews of hundreds of online casinos, with lists of the top casinos by category: poker, blackjack, slots, roulette, baccarat, bingo, and, most importantly to March Madness fans like me, sports betting. Yes, I see the rankings there, along with full reviews, editor ratings, and player ratings. Some of the sites offer a swell welcome bonus of up to $567. Unfortunately for Roxiticus Desperate Housewives with a perfect bracket in hand, there is no ranking for "free contests."

.

I will hope that as championship week gets underway (could it be as soon as tomorrow, or do they insist on waiting until March 1 for the Madness?), and the 65 teams are announced, the large sports sites like ESPN and Sports Illustrated, as well as big players like AOL and Yahoo, will launch free contests. We'll keep you up to date, sports fans!
