Easy Fella....Look At That Stuff On Your Own Time...and Your Own Computer!

Ever since Al Gore invented the Internet, there have been guys I've worked with who use company computers to look at naughty pictures, some quite vile. One summer we had such widespread disgusting pop-ups on our office computer that we had to use a program to detect porn and learned that our janitor was doing the dirty on our analysts' desktops instead of cleaning our office in the middle of the night! Even though we had installed a filter, it turns out that the ultimate Internet safety combination is a filter and a detection tool like SurfRecon to find (and remove) any images that are hiding on the office computers. I've solved my problem by eliminating the janitor, but I know there are plenty of workplaces that should be using a detection tool to encourage responsible behavior...maybe you guys should just get a room!

This is a really good blog. It's informative without being all market-y about it. Thanks for a refreshing change of pace.

At my last job they took cyber-snooping and website blocking very seriously. We had this IT guy who learned what a paranoid prick my boss was and exploited it into many more billable hours for himself to the misery of us employees. We couldn't even look at Yahoo because somebody might be able to read their email. I say if the porn isn't bothering anyone, putting the network at risk of nasty malware, or cutting into productivity, leave it alone!

My thinking is, if you must have the porn, keep it at home. I don't want to have to pay for it or other wasted time from my employees. That includes my beloved Bubble Shooter.

There was a cleaning person who would use our work computers to look at porn too! Hmmm....

Porn and unwanted programs are just threat to your security whether you are working in your office, relaxing yourselves in your homes, the threat is just so very alarming and situation is confusingly critical.
