I've never been a big fan of snow... a decade ago, when our two beautiful girls were just a twinkle in our eyes, Rex and I would ski out West (Deer Valley, Vail, Aspen, Sun Valley) as many as 10 to 12 days each year, but even then we preferred Spring skiing so we could get a tan while playing in the snow. This year, while we can't touch the unanticipated accumulation AccuWeather reported for our Washington DC friends and clients, the Roxiticus Valley has seen its share of snow... a foot here, six to eight inches there, it all adds up... and piles up in our yard and driveway.
So here comes the "who'da' thunk?" part... now that the temperatures are rising, the snow is melting and Frosty the Snowman has to hurry on his way, London and Maddie are disappointed. This past weekend, we just found the two perfect snow toys -- a family toboggan and a simple kiddie snowboard -- over at The Sports Section in the Kings Shopping Center in Mendham, New Jersey. If you look down at a few of my recent posts, you'll see from the photos that our family also built the biggest snow people ever. So now my girls want MORE SNOW!
To keep track of when we might expect a snow day off from school and whether we'll have enough accumulation to cover the snowboarding hill, our family has been spending plenty of time over at the newly redesigned AccuWeather web site, where it is easier than ever to find the snow info we need. Our local Roxiticus Valley forecasts are displayed with the relevant radar and local video, all from one view on the AccuWeather home page. The Accuweather site features four new lifestyle areas: Weather and Health, Weather and Travel, Weather and Home and Garden, and the one that matters most to London and Maddie: Weather and Outdoor Activity.
So after a visit to Accuweather.com, London and Maddie can plan to be snowed in for a weekend of snowboarding, snow angels and snuggling by the fire... or we can turn to a completely different set of plans to open our beloved beach house in Bay Head, New Jersey.
