EntreCard Warning

Attention EntreCarders... paid ads have been activated on EntreCard, and apparently the default setting is "throw it onto my web site, even if I have not approved it." I had rejected all of the paid ads on all of my sites, but happened to drop by one of my own sites more than once, only to discover that EntreCard was featuring "Raging Rev" on every other visit (the 50% maximum). I have since adjusted my "advert settings" to "allow paid ads only if explicitly approved" and think I've solved the problems, but be sure to check your own settings and let me know if you see something here that doesn't fit my profile. I'm not planning to accept any of the paid ads, so if you "advertise" your blog on one of my EntreCard widgets, you should be getting 100% of the visibility/traffic you've come to expect from the Roxy empire.

Meanwhile, BlogExplosion seems to be back in business, with lots and lots of new blogs appearing on the site and even competing in Battle of the Blogs. Give it a try by clicking on the link in this post or on the BlogExplosion banner at the top of the page below the header.

haven't done the entre-card thing yet, but have noticed them on multiple blogs. when randomly clicking to see what lies at the end of the rabbit hole the site s content is rarely reflect in the button presented... i would agree with the need for approval. have you found the entre-deal fulfilling (whatever that means)?

just wondering... and welcome back ;)

cheers!

Appreciate the mention. I noticed something funny too and could not figure it out.

Still trying to sort all the EC stuff out, but I did finally figure out where the ad settings were and changed them to be very strict - I am not planning on any paid ads either :)

I like BlogExplosion again now that they are under new management!

Hi!

Good you blogged about it, because I thought I was nuts.

Blogexplosion is going to do very well next weeks. I'm sure of that.

Hi Roxy.
I noticed some paid ads in my EC dashboard but still don´t know how it works.
I was without Internet at home for over two weeks, almost got nuts:)
Now I have a new connection and alot to catch up.
Congrats for the PR2. Finally some justice for a great writer!
Good Weekend! xx

I'm having my doubts about EC with these paid ads too. I didn't understand how they were supposed to work. My blog isn't high traffic or rated much at EC as I have not be avidly dropping for a long time. But, I had a dozen paid ads stacked up to approve. Almost all of them are the type of ads I would automatically not accept, money making stuff. I run a personal blog and prefer to keep the ads relevant to that. I will be sure to check my settings after reading your post. Glad you posted about it!

the only bad thing about blogexplosion, you get alot of blogs that have been neglected, but I think they are working on that.

Same here. I've locked out all those paid ads on my account and intend to market the hell out of the idea that my blog will be all credit-purchased ads, 100 percent of the time.

Entrecard just gave me a marketing angle. I really should thank them. Perhaps we both should...

I shared your thought exactly about Entrecard. My widget is for advertisers who purchased ad through EC credits only. I have rejected all paid ads. If you noticed any of those on my site when you are dropping, please let me know. Thank you and have a great weekend.

Thanks for the tip about the settings. I had no idea that they existed-- all I saw were 30 ADS in my Dashboard! Yuk! I have 6 EC accounts, so you can guess how laborious it's been to hash through the longs lists every day. I'm going to delete some blogs from EC, I think.

I'll have to re-check BlogExplosion. I wasn't too impressed with them last year.

NO PAID ADS ON MY ACCOUNT!!! Thanks for the heads up.

I'm really sure what to think of all this EC stuff yet personally. I know that my regular ads waiting for approval has ceased to exist since they rolled out the paying ads. Nobody wants to buy an ad spot for credits anymore or what? Sheesh.

I do understand they need money and all but, I really don't want to lose what made this system so great in the first place.

As for BE; I've been a faithfull (on and off) member for a while now and I too see an influx of users once again... which is awesome. Now if they'd only get their 'Rent my Blog' thing up and runnin' again, we wouldn't need EC... as much.

I'm not accepting them either. I think that they should've made it known that they would auto-approve unless WE changed the settings too. That was a bit sneaky in my opinion. I don't think it's fair to those who have used their credits to buy advertisement on my site. I don't know how much longer I'll bother with it, though.

Oh Roxy, I'm getting irritated now...as it is I had like 50 ads to approve yesterday, which was way too many if u ask me. And today I noticed an ad at my widget depsite me NOT APPROVING this particular ad, so now I'm pissed off!!! :(:(:(

This happened to me late last night, I noticed that there was an ad on there that I did not approve, nor would have approved if given the option (I had visited entrecard earlier yesterday and approved some ads, and rejected others). I attempted to log on to entrecard to no avail... so I took the widgets off my blog until I could cool down and also log on to entrecard to see what the issue is.

Big time disappointment in entrecard.

I only approved about 3 ads from one of my regular card droppers.

I visit my own blogs frequently and check into the dashboard several times a day.

I'm not accepting any paid ads in order to reward my own regular droppers.

Ads are showing up on my site regardless of the fact that I have all settings set to reject ads entirely. I have no clue how this is happening.

It takes a lot of dropping to earn credits to advertise and people should be guaranteed that if they purchase a spot their ad shows up.

It's a big mess.

Well, I too am facing with the same problem. But whether stopping paid ads can solve all the problems. Apart from that its nice to see Blog Explosion again. Thanks for sharing.
