Music Monday and London and Maddie's Snowman: Winter Wonderland

When I was a kid, about London or Maddie's age, my favorite winter song from music class at school was "Winter Wonderland." Today, since we're snowed in and lovin' it in the Roxiticus Valley, I thought I'd share this great version by Annie Lennox of the Eurythmics. Our yard certainly is a winter wonderland, though we didn't get nearly as much snow as they called for in the worst of the winter advisories. The hill was still perfect for sledding, and the girls enjoyed quite a few runs on their rocket tubes.

I've also promised to post a photo of London and Maddie's snowman, so you'll find it here, but you should be forewarned that we found a coating of ice that made it impossible to roll the three balls necessary for the traditional snowman.

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight.
Walking in a winter wonderland.

Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown

He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you're in town.

Later on, we'll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he's a circus clown
We'll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
Until the other kids knock him down.

When it snows, ain't it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We'll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
Walking in a winter wonderland.

That's a great version of the song.

I'm so jealous of your snow. Ice or not. We haven't had so much as a flurry here.
