Whadja All Think of the Desperate Housewives Season Premiere?

I'm not sure when all of you will have the chance to watch the Desperate Housewives season premiere, so I'm not going to give any obvious spoilers here, but I'd like to hear from everyone in the comments section...whadja all think?

I'm intrigued by the "five years later" approach, and think it works for many of the characters. However, I don't think Lynette and Tom's twins were anywhere near 11 years old when we left them last season, and now they are sixteen. I realize that 16 is a more interesting age, but...

I'm also confused about Gaby's children...the chubby chica featured in tonight's show (and in the photo above) was four years old, but what about her sister? Where was she? For the "five years later" approach to work, the sister has to be younger unless she was adopted, but Gaby spent a fair amount of time arguing with Carlos about their respective genes.

That's all for now...I'm off to bed, but I'll leave you with a laugh. Throughout the show, ABC kept flashing promos for "Stay at Home Week"...implying that we should all stay at home with our families all week to watch each and every season premiere. After spending the rainy weekend indoors with the Wizards of Waverly Place marathon on the Disney Channel, I'm ready for a sunny day!

Monday night update:  I was just thinking...one of my favorite shows from the late 80s/early 90s was thirtysomething...any other fans out there?  So Susan's having a fling thing with the guy she hired to paint her house, who appears to be a much younger guy.  On thirtysomething, Melissa had a fling thing (and eventually a relationship) with the guy she hired to paint her apartment, who was a much younger guy.  Hmm....

Juanita is the older of the two girls, at 4 and a half. She's an awfully advanced 4 year old, though - to get on a bus by herself, don't you think?
I'm guessing her younger sister was hiding from Carlos' cheese wiz.
Edie looked fabulous, but her new hubby kinda creeped me out - I guess that's the point, right?
Also, it was kind of hard to buy the fact that Susan and Mike's marriage broke up over an accident resulting from a downed stop sign - there has to be more to it than that!
The part with the neighbors taking a cell phone pic of Susan's new boytoy was funny, though!

I like the 5 year forward approach - The very first episode almost started that way where we were looking back and learning about the DHW each episode. I'm so sad about Mike and Susan - made me mad they weren't together again. Bree storyline was so/so - the story with the bad boy twins - I didn't like but the story line with Edie - looks promising!

I stopped liking Desperate Housewives a few seasons ago, yet my wife insists we still watch it since we've invested so much time in it already. I did like the idea of jumping ahead and agree that the twins at 16 didn't feel quite right. I could totally see Susan and Mike breaking up over the accident, and I'm relieved we will only have to experience those incredibly annoying conversations in an occasional flashback. I'm sure they'll be back together by the end of the season through a series of awkward and horribly comedic events. If Bree and whatsherface are going to be dueling Martha Stewarts all season, I'm going to have to claw my eyes out. And this season's new resident o' evil looks like he has potential to make things mildly scary during May sweeps. I hope tonight's episode of Heroes kicks enough ass to make up for me having to watch that.

I enjoyed it. You are better than I am, I did post some things about the episode on my post but did put a spoiler alert in for those who have yet to watch! Looking forward to seeing how everything unfolds. Wonder where the rest of Lynette and Tom's kids are?

I agree with mo on the 4 year old getting on a bus...

Roxy! I've done my drops for MPG and it seems to be okay. Finished 300 and am doing my Mariuca round now BUT my pricing seems to be all weird, 1536???? How did that figure come about?????

I watched the season premier last night and thought it was awesome. Though I did have a few questions about Juanita. She looks a lot older than a 4 year old. What's up with that.

I love the five years ahead concept. You can tell that the 4 year old has Gabs streak.

Edie new husband is going to be interesting.

Im with Mo...What is going on with that relationship. They sure don't look like they want to be apart.

You could just see Mike's eyes scream "I wanna come home."

I thought the show was very interesting. I sort of liked the fact that they skipped ahead five years so we didn't have to sit through those boring baby years...usually when someone has a baby on a show, that signals the end of the series, as babies notoriously kill any kind of sexual or romantic chemistry between the leads...hence, Susan now has the ability to have a hot new boyfriend...Also liked the twins as grown-ups now...that should be very interesting. But you're right...where was Gabrielle's other child? And what about Susan's daughter? Is she off to college? I like Bree as the next Martha Stewart (great plot development), but the fight between her and the Dana Delaney character seems trite. Unless it's going to lead to an on-air rivalry, which could prove interesting. As for the latest "mystery" plot, who knows? The premise seems a little contrived to me...but time will tell.
