Remember the other day when I listed six of my quirks for all the world to see? One that I meant to share with my loyal Roxiticus Desperate Housewives readers is that I've got Reader's Digest Syndrome. I used to pick up the Reader's Digest in the bathroom when I was growin' up, and ever since I moved out of my parent's house after college in 1989, my mom has given me my very own subscription every year for my birthday, with some unexpected results that I call Reader's Digest Syndrome.
After reading several Reader's Digest articles about preventing the nightmare of identity theft, I now shred all of my mail...sometimes before reading it. I think the Reader's Digest also offered advice on how to find the right hamster to run your family's paper shredder. Charley over there has turned out to be a much more productive member of the family than last summer's hermit crab.
And with all the trouble I've been having with our Comcastic Internet service in both our Bay Head and Roxiticus Valley homes, I remembered a story in the Reader's Digest about a little old lady who, when her Comcast "Triple Play" (cable, Internet, and phone service) went out and she got no satisfaction from customer service, took out her revenge on her local Comcast central office with a claw hammer...don't worry, she took no prisoners, only the Comcastic computer equipment was harmed...but the Reader's Digest wisely warned me that Comcast now has a restraining order that protected them from the little old lady coming within 2,000 feet of their central office!
Now, in addition to the printed edition you'll find in my Roxiticus Desperate Restroom, I've discovered the Reader's Digest online at RD.com - Parenting. If you're heading out on a road trip with your family this summer, you won't want to miss out on the Reader's Digest's "hassle free hints on traveling with kids" with tips for healthy travel, stress-free vacations and the very best games to keep the whole gang occupied on a road trip (Moooooommmmy, are we there yet?).
Check out the Reader's Digest RD.com - Family Life web site for lots of tips on how to make the most of your family time by creating a happy, healthy and stress-free household. Just tonight, I found "Help for Sleepless Moms" (Here’s how to get the housework done, give your children the attention they need, and help your kids get the sleep they need—so you can, too)-- though I don't think they're directing their words of wisdom to those of us mommy bloggers who bring it upon ourselves by prancing about the blogosphere, merrily dropping EntreCards all night long while our little ones snore and drool....see you out there!

I could have used that on our trip to Tennessee last week. I'm a day late and a dollar short apparently.
Next Time! :-)
