Kit's Treehouse Fund

As I have mentioned here before, there's a new movie coming to theatres everywhere on Wednesday, July 2nd... Kit Kittredge: An American Girl. While Kit Kittredge in the story is a young girl growing up during the 1930's Depression, American Girl gives young girls growing up in the 2008 Recession the opportunity to spend $250 on Kit's Treehouse!

Maddie and London have, of course, been begging for Kit's Treehouse, and I agreed to pay half if they worked hard to raise $125 this summer...so my girls have been busy painting shells, folding napkins, making their beds and cleaning their rooms. With a combination of tooth fairy money, their allowances for helping out around the house, and this season's seashell earnings so far, the girls already have $75 in the Treehouse Fund, so Kit's Treehouse may be on its way sooner than I expected, in time for our month at the beach in Bay Head in August.

Now, I wanted to take pictures of my sweet girls with paper bags on their heads like in all of LJ's photos, but Rex claimed that we don't have any paper bags here in Bay Head, New Jersey. So all I can offer you is a picture of London and Maddie's Treehouse Fund and the unattended seashell sales station.

Thanks for the visit :)

Great that they are working towards it as that will make the tree house mean more to them.

Goodness I thought only places like Africa where I am would find it hard to find paper bags.
