Santa Brought a Big Red Drum Set for the Butter Bites Girl Band in Roxy's Basement

... and he also left some Aleve in Rex's stocking!

Looking back on one Christmas when I was a kid, I remember wanting a drum set. My parents were kind and loving, but Depression-era sensible. They told me that beginning drummers don't learn with a full set of drums like my favorite rock bands (and my schoolgirl crush), but with a little round drum pad and drumsticks to tap out a (quiet) beat. I didn't have any interest in a drum pad, so I probably changed my request to an Andy Gibb album or a softball glove. Now that I have this big beautiful red drum set in my basement for London and Maddie, I'm glad I decided not to be sensible about it... while the drums are the only gift Santa brought for my girls this Christmas, they are over the moon with delight and we're getting an awful lot of bang for the drum.
