Good News for Mendham Township School District

The Mendham Township Board of Education has appointed an Interim Superintendent for Mendham Township Public Schools. I received the following letter via "Backpack Mail" on Friday, May 2nd.



Dear Parents/Guardians,



The Board of Education is pleased to announce that Ms. Catherine Mozak has been appointed Interim Superintendent for Mendham Township Public Schools and will start on May 26, 2008. The Board is working with Ms. Mozak currently and anticipates that the transition will go smoothly. Ms. Mozak is a highly-regarded, experienced chief administrator who served as Superintendent of Schools for the Park Ridge School District from 1991 through 2003 and is currently Interim Superintendent in the North Warren Regional School District.



Ms. Mozak is eager to start and is committed to providing an excellent educational environment for our children. She is a proven leader who has implemented many significant educational improvements during her career including curriculum advances and technology enhancements. We welcome her to the District and look forward to working with her over the upcoming months to continue the excellence in education we all expect in Mendham.



We are also moving expeditiously to find our new permanent Superintendent. Numerous candidates applied for the position and responded to our request for detailed information regarding their background and skills. We are reviewing these submissions and anticipate conducting a first round of interviews in the coming weeks. We do fully appreciate and share the community's desire to have a new superintendent in place as soon as possible. At the same time, we strongly believe that the number one goal is to find the best qualified Superintendent for our children and schools and we cannot establish a set timetable to meet this goal.



A critical part of our process is to obtain input from parents, staff and other members of the community. We would like to have your thoughts and views prior to conducting the first round of interviews. Please put on your calendar that there will be a public input session on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at 11:00am and at 6:00pm in the Elementary School Staff Development Room. This will be an opportunity for you to personally provide feedback on the qualities and characteristics you would like to see in our superintendent. Of course, you can always provide input via e-mail to boe@mendhamtwp.org, a letter to the Board or at our Board meetings.

Speaking for the Roxiticus Desperate Housewives, I know we are going to miss Christine Johnson as our Superintendent, and I hope the Mendham Township Board of Education will find someone who is excited to continue the advances Dr. Johnson made in creating an environment of academic excellence in our schools.
