Pierre's Restaurant & Wine Bar Asks and Answers: What Is A Braai?? South African Braai Chef's Table Dinner Planned for Thursday, June 12th, 2008

I just received an e-mail from Chef Michael Peters at Pierre's Restaurant & Wine Bar in Morristown (near Bernardsville), New Jersey. Pierre's Restaurant & Wine Bar is hosting a South African Braai on Thursday, June 12th, 2008 at 7:00pm. Rex and I are planning to attend, and we'd love to get a table of ten or more Roxiticus Desperate Housewives and Husbands together for the event. Our tables have been known to get a bit rowdy, but it is all in good fun and we hope you can join us.

What, you may ask, is a braai? South Africa is a country of carnivores, and to braai meat over hot coals is something that comes naturally to every man of this diverse country. A braai (think barbeque) is a social event in South Africa that can involve an enormous amount of planning and can be held anywhere — at home with the family, on the beach, in the forest, or in a designated “braai spot.” Archbishop Desmond Tutu is the official patron of National Braai Day held on September 24th since 2005.

Come and join the Roxiticus Desperate Housewives at Pierre’s first ever South African Braai on Thursday, June 12th. The cost is $95 prepaid per person (tax and gratuity included). We will be drinking some extraordinary South African wines from Cape Classics. Weather permitting, Pierre's will hold the reception on the front porch.

If you aren't already convinced, here's a peek at The Chef's Table Menu:
