A Day at the Bronx Zoo

I spent the day at the Bronx Zoo with my first grader and her class. The weather was perfect...72 degrees and sunny. Not like yesterday, when it poured so hard all day I started to build an ark out in our barn....and the note home from school said the trip would go on "rain or shine." Well, shine it did, and we had a terrific day at the zoo.

While some of you have commented that you feel sorry for the animals in the zoo, the Bronx Zoo goes out of its way to re-create very large habitats for the endangered species there. If you drink the Kool-Aid, you come away believing that some of the animals you see there would have died off as a species if not for the ones who were protected and living in luxury at the Bronx Zoo.

I haven't been to a zoo in over 20 years. I think it's time to go again. Lions and tigers and bears oh my!
