Schiff Nature Preserve in Mendham, NJ

My older daughter just went on a trip with her Brownie troop to Schiff Nature Preserve in Mendham, NJ.

I found out there's a Schiff Summer Nature Program for Kids, running from June 23rd through August 8, 2008. It's for kids aged six through twelve, with an additional week for young adults ages thirteen through fifteen. You can choose a morning program (9:00am to 12:30pm) OR an afternoon session (1:30pm to 5:00pm), but no full day option is available.

Five week camp for "Budding Naturalists" ages 6-12:
  • June 23-27:  Nature Scavenger Hunt, Children's Gardening Program, Raccoons, Bluebirds, Deer
  • July 7-11:  Leaf Relay, Children's Gardening Program, Reptiles, Tracking & Sign, Butterflies
  • July 14-18:  Tracker Game, Children's Gardening Program, Toads, Edible Wild Plants, Food Webs, Dragonflies
  • July 28-August 1:  Paint Chip Color Hunt, Children's Gardening Program, Hummingbirds, Wasps, Black Bears, Clouds
  • August 4-August 8 (Week 1 Topics Repeated):  Nature Scavenger Hunt, Children's Gardening Program, Raccoons, Bluebirds, Deer
One week camp for "Eco-Explorers" ages 13-15
  • August 18-22:  Gardening with Native Plants, World of Insects, Bluebirds, Animal Tracking and Sign, Stream Ecology
